The
B737-800 is by far the most popular of the Next Generation 737 variants from
the Boeing Company. Orders from US-based carriers have been very slow coming
in. In November 1996, American Airlines made a stunning announcement of a masive
order for several Boeing types; 103 firm orders, and 'purchase rights' for a
further 527 aircraft. This mass order included 75 B737-800s for delivery between
1998 and 2001. It was good news for Boeing then; it is good news for collectors
now, as we bring this petite model to you in proud American colors.
