deal included American's 'purchase rights' to acquire a further 425 B737s. You
already have the B737-800 in American's present distinctive livery. It is now
our joy to bring you this aircraft in American's Astro-livery to reminisce its
glorious heritage.
The
order for 75 aircraft by American Airlines stirred up considerable controversy
when it was revealed that this was part of a massive purchase which had allegedly
been secured by Boeing through offering the airline preferential rates on the
understanding that it would be their sole supplier of aircraft for many years
to come.
