| Update On The Ongoing Investigation Of "White Box" Counterfeits
The counterfeit white box figures in our hands were passed along to Dragon's in-house experts and engineers for closer inspection.
At first glance, there were many obvious errors in the white box counterfeits that could be seen right away. Rather than going through each figure piece by piece, here are some general remarks that were evident in all the white boxes that we inspected:
- Wrong parts / uniforms given. All the white boxes have parts that don't belong in the original Dragon / Cyber-Hobby releases.
- Colors are off. Many pieces in the figure and uniforms have colors that are different from the original.
- Poor material quality. Some of the material chosen for the counterfeit figures are of poor quality and texture.
- Poor stitching on uniform.
- Traces of gluing. Some parts had traces of "sticky" glue residue.
These are just some of the traits that the inferior white box counterfeits possess, and those are just based on initial viewing. Our engineers have discovered many more differences in the manufacturing process of these items from the original Dragon items, including some "hidden" traits that they have imbedded for marking and tracing purposes.
In conclusion, there are many glaring errors in these white box counterfeit figures that would never get past our quality control officers. Consumers who come across such figures should take note of the above mentioned points before deciding. If the seller does not happen to show close ups of the figure, you should probably ask for some so that you can judge for yourself.
