55090 Air Canada B747-433 - Combi - now available

In Y2K, we are proud to introduce a new version for the model 55090.   Notice the picture on the box was taken by a professional photographer from Air Canada!

Air Canada became wholly-owned by the Canadian government in 1977 and has been privatized since July 1989.  Its current network offers flights to one hundred and twenty destinations.  One of the latest additions to the network is Hong Kong, which started in mid-1995, and to promote this, the airline added titles to one of its three Boeing 747-400 Combis, C-GAGL.  Noted this model (55090) is different from the one produced in 1999; the titles on the starboard nose read 'Yves and I are going to Hong Kong', while the port side was translated into French, reading 'Yves et moi partons pour Hong Kong'.  In addition, every new version of 55090 comes with one passenger bus;   although it is small in size, however, it is in detail and realistic!

55145 JTA B737-4K5 - now available

Our first model from Japan TransOcean Air, a subsidiary of JAL. Originally called South West Airlines, the name has been changed to JTA after being bought by JAL. JTA mainly flies Japan mainland/Okinawa route. B737-400 planes been added to the YS-11 and B737-200 fleet since the acquisition by JAL and there are currently 5 B737-400 planes in service.

This little model is the latest addition to the B737-4K5 fleet. Although a small model, it bears a lot of interesting markings. The Sky Manta logo is imprint behind the cockpit, the Papas Island resort logo on the rear of the fuselage, and Nippon Post markings next to the doors. Sharp windows with shadow and registration number/national roundal/escape route on the wing make this small plane loaded with markings.

The JTA-99-008 number on the side of the box is the license approval number from JTA.

55134 Canadian Airlines B747-475

Our second Canadian model is this B747-475 with the livery before change over to the 'Proud Wing'. The fuselage is off white in color, with dark blue belly. The tail features a prominent red chevron pointing to the front. Registration number is C-GMWW 'Maxwell W. Ward'. The uniqueness of Canadian aircraft is the position of the Canadian flag, some shown in front of the registration number, while others behind. Also, some aircraft show Boeing 747-475 wordings while some Boeing 747-400. There are a lot of other fine details on the model. The box cover photo is by Robbie Shaw and features Hong Kong's Lion Rock as the backdrop.

55138 Frontier B737-36Q - 'Dolphin Sunset & Water motif' (includes one aircraft tow tractor) - now available

Frontier Airlines' start-up on 5 July 1994 took advantage of Continental's dramatic downsizing of their Denver operations from over one hundred and fifty daily flights. The airline's marketing theme, 'The Spirit of the West', is seen on the tails of their Boeing 737 aircraft in the form of twenty-one-foot-high decals of western wildlife. Each decal originates from a 35mm photo that has been computer-enlarged 'a zillion times'. A different image is worn on both sides of the tail.

Being proud of the company image and the stunning design of the tail of the plane, Frontier Airlines did not ever grant license to any airplane model manufacturer, until impressed by Dragon's  'high image' technique of imprinting. We are happy to produce airplane models for their own needs and, under their permission, to present to the collectors this fantastic model series. The first comer is N307FL with 'Dolphin Sunset & Water motif'.

This is our first model of Frontier Airline. The tail is imprinted in full details, with Dragon's famous super-fine-printed window frames newly introduced in B737, the smallest model of our Dragon Wings series. Besides emigrating most of the details of the real plane, we also follow the Frontier Airlines' instuction to keep the company logo on the plane body strictly followed their corporate identity standard, make it minor different with the actual plane but more impressive and stunning. Therefore please don't compare with the plane photos. Moreover, to celebrate this remarkable plane, we have also included an airplane tow tractor to make all things truely perfect.

Please enjoy 'The Spirit of the West' and more to come!

55133 Thai International Airways B747-4D7 - now available

To celebrate the new millennium, we proudly present this Thai B747-4D7 model in stunning beauty. The imprint is extremely difficult and alignment of purplish red and gold colors has to be very precise to clear show the details of the Dragon boat. Some of the imprint measures only 0.10mm in thickness, and slight misalignment will have all the lines and details blurred. Many man hours were put in the design and production of this model.

The following description is extracted from Winston's post
(thanks Winston)

Thai Airways International recently unveiled this stunning, one-of-a-kind new look for one of its aircraft. In September, workers finished painting one of Thai's Boeing 747-400 with a massive image of a gilded royal barge.

The aim of decorating the plane is to support the Thai Government's successful "Amazing Thailand" marketing campaign held in 1998 and 1999, the "Celebrate The Amazing River of Kings" project launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and to promote Thailand throughout the world as a tourist destination. This livery can be seen from 30 September 1999 until the end of December 2000; the aircraft will be deployed on Thai's services to Paris, Stockholm, Rome, Sydney, Tokyo and Los Angeles.

The airline's board of directors voted overwhelmingly to undertake the project after the idea was proposed by Thai's commercial department. The image of the royal barge was chosen because it is well known throughout the world for its unique beauty and intricate appearance. In addition, the painted aircraft has been royally bestowed by His Majesty the King as "Hariphunchai."

The painting began in early September and was carried out by Thai's maintenance staff at their U-Tapao maintenance facility in Rayong province. It was scheduled for completion before 4 November 1999 to coincide with the spectacular Royal Barge procession ceremony being held on Bangkok's Chao Phraya River the same day.

For those interested in details, the length of the royal barge painting is 52 metres; the height 6.75 metres. Four layers of paint were applied and 198 gallons of paint used. The effort took a total of 276 manhours.

55132 Canadian Airlines B747-475 - now available

The first Canadian Airlines model from Dragon. We were longing to come out with this model, but it took us almost a year to finally acquired the proper license, same time as others. Contrary to other saying, there was no preference from Canadian Airlines, they have been very fair and treat all parties the same. We'll continue to bring you the old livery from Canadian.

This livery from Canadian is about one year old, and is a very attractive design. This bird flies to Hong Kong on a regular basis. C-GMWW, the registration number of this model, is the latest B747-400 from Canadian. The name of the plane, Maxwell W. Ward, is clearly imprinted in the front.
